On Sunday, you will receive a special email with instructions on where to park and how to enter the Fanuc American headquarters.
We will not follow our regular agenda, but we will have lunch and a tour led by Michael Cicco, President and CEO of FANUC America Corporation. FANUC is an automation and robotics company that provides industry-leading robotics, CNC systems, and factory automation solutions to help manufacturers maximize productivity, reliability, and profitability in the Americas. Their main robotic product headquarters provides automation and robotics sales, service, support, and training to Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and the United States.
BOARD MEETING NOTES
The Board has decided to recommend a bylaws change. This change involves eliminating the board position of Assistant Secretary. The Board proposes that the Assistant Secretary position be eliminated and the Secretary position rotate annually, as do all other board positions.
According to our bylaws, all members must be notified of the proposed change 21 days before a club-wide vote. We eagerly await your participation in the official ballot on October 15. Printed copies of the changes will be provided at the regular weekly meetings on October 1st, 8th, and 15th. Between now and October 15th, board members will be happy to answer questions.
We owe a big thank you to Rachel Aviles for managing our 70th-anniversary ice cream social on Sunday, September 15th, in Rotary Gateway Park. Rachel and her merry band of youthful helpers, her kids, handed out over 100 ice cream sundaes.
Last month, Breona Clawson paid a happy buck to say she had been accepted to Apple's Developer Program. This will be an exciting opportunity for Bree, but since the classes are at the same time as our weekly meetings, she has asked for a leave of absence. The Board granted the leave, which will end on June 30, 2025, and we look forward to seeing her at our weekly meetings.
We bid a fond farewell to Marie Willet, who has resigned from the club and accepted a new position as the Director of Philanthropy and Grants with the City of Dearborn. Her last day at the City of Rochester Hills is Friday, September 27th. She will transfer her membership to the Dearborn Rotary Club. We are grateful for her contributions and wish her the best in her new role.
Marty Pavlick has also resigned from the club and is entering a semi-retirement period.
The board has decided to conduct a club-wide survey to see how we can improve your Rotary experience and our meetings. The survey is being created and won't go out until later in the year, but we want to give you a heads-up.
BREAKING NEWS!
In conjunction with other service clubs in the Rochester area, we are extending our necessities drive through the end of September. At the Rochester Hills Public Library, you can drop off new PJs, underwear, socks, and diapers for children ages birth through 18. There is a donation box at the library's entrance. Please consider purchasing and giving some of these items!
Rotary International has approved us for a group study exchange through the Open World program. A group of six adults will be visiting our area between February 21, 2025, and March 1, 2025. We can use some help on this project. We are looking for Rotarians who would be willing to house one or two of our visitors. We are looking for free tickets to sporting or cultural events during that time. We are also looking for someone to help chauffeur our guests while they are here. If you are interested, contact President Christine Hage.
