President Wayne Hodges opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, then we sang My Country Tis of Thee, and recited the modified Four Way Test.  The invocation was given by President Wayne, and lunch was served.
 
ATTENDANCE

We had 53 members present, and two guests, Suzanne Klein from Grosse Pointe Rotary Club, and Steve Waterford guest of Bob Lytle.

15th HANDSHAKE

Mary Ann Reidinger was happy to announce that no one was exempt from fines today, except David Eardley.

HAPPY BUCKS
President Wayne was very proud of the rotarian attendance at Jim Smalley's funeral.
Bob Lytle was happy to introduce Steve Waterford, athletic director at Oakland University, who discussed what was happening at OU.
Christine Hage announced that she is super excited about her third granddaughter, and that she will be retiring at the end of the year.  Congratulations Christine!
Shirley Gofrank was happy to announce the Community Foundation's Tailgate Party at the Grizzdome on Thursday night.
 
ROTARIAN OF THE WEEK
Ron Lichtle then gave the bejeweled trophy to Phil Lowman.  Unsure why, but there it is...
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
President Wayne brought attention to the club brochures and business cards on the tables, please take several and use them to celebrate our club.
Ethan Hoffman spoke about the job shadow program on the 19th of November.
Rhonda Panczyk then spoke about Rotary and Polio, and World Polio Day on October 24th, sprinkling in assorted compliments for our President to increase her available speaking time.  Mary Ann Reidinger then complemented Rhonda's presentation, speaking about the horses in the area of that timeframe, and how they were used to further Polio research.  Great information, and a perfect reminder about this important mission of Rotary.
Renee Cortright then spoke about our poinsettia sales and our food for the community emphasis with this years sale, go sell!
 
BIRTHDAYS AND CLUB ANNIVERSARIES
Brent Blankenship and Kathy Losinski have birthdays on October 17th.
Russ Shelton, Steve Cooper, and Frank Rewold all celebrate club anniversaries this week.
 
SONGS
Bob Lytle then led us in two songs, The Army Goes Rolling Along, and a Poinsettia Song to the tune of Here Comes Santa Claus.
 
SHERIFF'S REPORT
David Blair then fined everyone, again!  No one was protected, everyone was fined for assorted and sundry reasons, raising $254 for our charities.
 
PROGRAM 
David Eardley then introduced our three speakers of the day, Natalie Riley Finch, John Muhalsky, and Katie Ray Robin.  They spoke at length about scleroderma, the disease process, the research associated with it, and how you can help.  Excellent information, thanks very much for speaking to us today.
